About your host
Carmen, the creative mind behind The Cooking Flea aims to turn boring veggies into wonders and to make the most of the goods that each season has to offer. Working with fresh, seasonal and mostly local produce from organic Bristol suppliers.
“Spending most of my childhood in the kitchen with my mother and great-grandmother, my passion for homemade food grew as part of my identity. There’s something extra special about women in the South of Italy and their relationship with food: there is no measuring of ingredients and everything is cooked from scratch. It’s their love for food that pours into each dish that makes it so tasty and special!”
The Cooking Flea journey began in 2020 with the idea of blogging to share simple and easy recipes for people to enjoy in their own homes. Now, there are successful supper clubs, private chefs' bookings, cooking for styled shoots and even teaching others, sharing a passion and wealth of knowledge gained from qualifications and experience of many years.
Nothing makes Carmen happier than seeing people around her table, enjoying genuine homemade food.
