The candle company rejecting mass-made products

Just like us, The Botanical Candle Company are part of a movement to reject mass-made products to make way for shopping local and supporting independent businesses. We knew this brand and their products would fit perfectly into the Wild About Flowers concept, and we are delighted to now have them in stock.
When we came across their products and started to read their story, we felt a connection to the brand and knew we wanted their products on our shelves. From the plastic-free packaging to being a homegrown business, we were in awe of their beautiful products and the process that goes behind making them.
The company was started in 2014 by Amalia Pothecary and James Osborn; founded on the core principles of quality, fairness, and transparency. The studio/shop is run from Dorset, where each and every candle is made completely by hand from beginning to end. We love this attention to detail and close relationship with their products, and comfort knowing the story behind the brand and the journey the products take.
Working with only 100% soy-flakes, the candle fragrances the team creates are close to nature with un-fussy, recognizable scents that are comforting and familiar.
For those who aren't so familiar with the benefits of using soy wax, it has huge environmental and health benefits which is why The Botanical Candle Company are so passionate about using it.
- Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. The wax comes from crops grown in the USA and is an entirely natural product that's safe for your skin and respiratory system.
- Soy is a renewable source unlike paraffin wax which relies on our dwindling supply of crude oil.
- Soy wax is a carbon-neutral product, meaning you can enjoy your candle knowing it hasn't had a negative impact on the environment.
- Soy wax burns on average 40-50% slower than paraffin wax, resulting in long-lasting candles and giving you better value for money.
- Soy washes away with warm soapy water making it easy to repurpose your vessel once the candle has burned down.
- Soy wax is clean burning and doesn't release toxins, carcinogens, or pollutants, which means it's less likely to trigger allergies.
- Soy wax won't release petrol-carbon soot like you get from paraffin candles, meaning no oily black marks on your walls! Keeping the wick trimmed short will also ensure that the candle doesn't smoke and that it burns efficiently.
The movement of rejecting mass-made products, shopping local, and supporting independent businesses is only gaining momentum, and our candles fit into this ethos perfectly.
